Ingham County Recent Arrest Sources
Ingham County publishes no single page that browses every new booking. For current custody, start with the Ingham County Inmate Locator. It takes a name or an inmate number. It is not a list of everyone arrested today. Its public landing page promises no fixed update schedule, so treat it as a right-now custody tool.
City reporting fills part of the gap. Lansing posts annual public adult and juvenile arrest-report links. East Lansing offers an arrest-report route plus weekly police PDFs. Mason lists no accessible public arrest log. A city record can confirm an Ingham County arrest. This holds even when the person was released, held elsewhere, or never lodged in the county jail.
| Time view | Best official route | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Current custody | Inmate Locator | Person may be in county jail now |
| Same-day question | Locator, then jail line | No county 24-hour feed was found |
| Multi-day history | City report archives | Police reporting, not current custody |
| Older record | Agency FOIA request | Request for an identified retained file |
Need same-day options? The Arrested Today guide covers them, and Arrest Reports walks through the wider city archive route.
When Ingham Arrests Appear
No public rule sets how fast an Ingham County arrest reaches the locator. Booking takes time. Identity checks, intake, and data entry all come first. A person may be released or transferred along the way. Note the time you searched. Try the exact surname plus likely spelling variants, and use the inmate number when you have it. Is a fresh arrest still not searchable? The Sheriff Corrections page lists the jail phone line at 517-676-2431, option 3. Staff may hold back details for safety or privacy. A blank result alone does not rule out an arrest.
Search the Ingham Jail Roster
The official Ingham County jail roster is narrow by design. Its landing page offers no browse-all screen. Search with the strongest identifier you have. Write down the date and time. Results are not promised to include charges, bond, or agency. The same goes for booking time, release time, or a photo. Confirm those details with the jail or the record holder.
| Search field | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Last Name | Begin with the exact surname, then try a credible spelling variant |
| First Name | Add it to narrow matches without assuming a nickname |
| Inmate Number | Use the jail identifier to separate similar names |
Work the search in steps. Run the official lookup first, then record the time and the custody wording. Call inmate information if identity or status stays unclear. For a record or photo the screen never displays, file a focused FOIA request. A released person drops off the active roster. The booking file still exists. The official locator screen shows which fields appear before you search.

This capture documents a search interface, not a gallery or list of detainees.
Calls Are Not Arrest Bookings
The Recent ICSO Calls page can masquerade as a live arrest feed. It lists recent times and incident codes. It is a dispatch and alarm log. A call may end with no arrest at all. Meanwhile, a warrant booking or an outside-agency arrest may never show up as a new Sheriff call. Treat calls as calls, never as bookings. Resist using a listed address to guess that someone was arrested.
Ingham Arrest Alerts and Apps
The Ingham Sheriff offers no official mobile app for inmate searches, booking photos, or arrest alerts. The real channels are few. There is the web locator, the corrections line, online non-emergency reporting, and the recent-calls page. A social post or unaffiliated app is selective and never a roster substitute.
Michigan does offer MI-VINE, a free and confidential custody and case notification service. It can send alerts. Choose phone, text, email, TTY, or in-app delivery. A participating system reports a release, transfer, escape, or other available event. It handles notifications, not photos. The VINE Arrest Check page explains one-person searches and alerts. The official MI-VINE page spells out the service's scope.

The state page helps separate notification from the county’s name search.
Where Ingham Arrest Records Appear
Each Ingham County record describes a different stage of the same event. Start with official sources. They name the custodian and the limits of each system. News stories and private archives can add context. Neither one replaces current custody data or a final court disposition.
| Channel | Photo? | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Ingham locator | Not promised | Official current-custody search |
| Lansing reports | Not promised | Official annual city archives |
| East Lansing reports | Not promised | Official arrest route and weekly PDFs |
| MDOC OTIS | Sometimes | Official state custody or supervision |
| Local news | Sometimes | Selective, unofficial coverage |
| Mugshots.com | Yes | Unofficial legacy Ingham archive |
| Other publishers | Varies | No active Ingham section verified |
WILX, FOX 47, the Lansing State Journal, MLive, and WLNS run selected stories. Those outlets are not complete arrest logs. Mugshots.com may blend old jail, court, and state records into one listing. RecentlyBooked, Arrests.org, Busted Newspaper, and Mugshots.zone show no active Ingham County section. A private photo page never proves present custody.
Ingham County Arrests by City
Lansing Recent Arrests covers police reports, county custody, and 54-A District Court. East Lansing Recent Arrests sorts out monthly reports, weekly PDFs, and a delayed crime map. It also covers county custody and 54-B. Mason Recent Arrests pulls together its police contact and the missing public feed. It adds the county locator. It also covers 55th District Court.
These routes do not mean every city arrest ends in a county booking. Township, university, state, and other agencies all work inside Ingham County. Expect a city report, a jail entry, and a court file to carry different dates. Identifiers can differ too.
Inside an Ingham Arrest Record
A booking record is built during jail intake, and it can hold more than the locator shows. Police keep the incident report. The jail keeps intake material. The court keeps the later case file. Request Ingham County arrest records from whichever office actually holds them.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Name and inmate number | Booking name and jail identifier |
| Booking date/time | Intake event, not always offense date |
| Arresting agency | Agency that delivered the person |
| Charge | Alleged offense at that stage |
| Bond | Release term that can change |
| Custody status | Held, released, or transferred state |
| Booking photograph | Intake image if created and released |
| Case number | Route to a later court file |
Ingham Arrest Photos Are Limited
Photos are scarce. The county's inmate locator page offers no booking-photo gallery at all, and no Sheriff policy promises every image gets posted. A specific photo may be requested under Michigan FOIA. Exemptions for privacy, active investigations, fair trials, youth records, sealing, and safety all feed into the agency's review. The 1987 Free Press v. Oakland County Sheriff ruling offers public-access context on its own facts, not a posting schedule Ingham follows today.
MDOC OTIS tells a different story. It may display a photo for someone under state supervision, though it skips new county arrests and pre-sentence custody. Some profiles carry no image. A photo sitting in a private archive proves nothing about whether a person is still in custody.
Request Ingham Arrest Records
County jail material travels through FOIA. Begin at the Ingham FOIA summary and FOIA Center. No special form applies, but the request must describe the record well enough for staff to locate it. Put "FOIA" in the heading, then list the full name, date range, record type, inmate number if known, arresting agency, and the digital format you want.
- Identify whether the Sheriff, police department, or court holds the file.
- Ask for the record and photo, if public and not exempt, for one event.
- Request a legal citation for each withheld or redacted part.
- Keep the response, estimate, and appeal deadline.
Expect an answer within five business days. The county can extend that by ten more. Fees cover searching, review, copying, media, mailing, and labor, with the first fifteen minutes free and paper copies capped at $0.10 per page. A large estimate may require a deposit. These are response rules, not a promise that any photo will be released. For current details, the official county FOIA page controls.

This source should control over private summaries and old forms.
Michigan Arrest Records and Removal
Michigan FOIA governs access to any specific record. The law rests on MCL 15.231, with exemptions written into MCL 15.243. Nothing in it requires every mugshot to sit online. General Schedule 1 covers jail inmate jackets. Intake records, booking cards, mugshots, bonds, warrants, release forms, and transfer records belong inside, and Series 11.210 holds them until release plus ten years before destruction. Online visibility can end far sooner.
Errors start with the source. Contact the Sheriff, police agency, clerk, or MSP. Michigan Clean Slate and petition-based set-aside processes can change the public status of eligible convictions, so document any dismissal, acquittal, identity-theft finding, sealing order, or set-aside, since booking without conviction and a conviction set-aside raise different issues.
Once the source is corrected, use the publisher's free correction process and the search engine's official stale-content tool. Mugshots.com and RecentlyBooked state free review routes for some errors or legal outcomes. Busted Newspaper has a free route. It lists no Ingham section. Skip anyone who wants payment to erase an official record, and remember a court order never reaches every copied page.
Protected Ingham Arrest Information
Lansing keeps adult and juvenile report links separate. Courts and FOIA responses may suppress juvenile material, victim details, sealed files, medical facts, classification data, and other protected facts. A blank result can mean a legal limit. Private photo archives will not fill that gap. A narrow official request lets the agency review the right record, cite any exemption, and cut down on mistaken identity.
Ingham Arrest Warrants and Tips
The 55th District Court warrant page posts its latest criminal and traffic list. Check the run date. Warrants come and go after that snapshot. It also skips civil contempt and debtor-examination matters. The 55th handles the county outside Lansing and East Lansing, which run through district courts 54-A and 54-B.
The Sheriff posts no fixed most-wanted roster. Crime Stoppers of Mid-Michigan maintains a shifting secondary page that blends wanted notices, unsolved cases, and identification requests, some with images. Tips go to 517-483-STOP or P3, though a listing there says nothing about current custody.
The stable warrant page explains why the latest dated list matters.

This is court navigation, not a face-filled wanted gallery.
Verify Ingham Warrant Calls
The Sheriff has warned about impostors. A caller claims a warrant exists, then demands Bitcoin or a bond payment by phone. Hang up at once. Never use the caller's number, link, or payment instructions; instead verify through the Sheriff's official line or the court, which protects both people checking warrants and relatives fielding a claimed arrest.
After an Ingham County Arrest
Booking is only step one. A case may then pass through arraignment, bond review, preliminary steps, plea, trial, dismissal, sentencing, probation, or release. Arraignment is an early court appearance. Bond is a release condition, and expungement or set-aside can later restrict an eligible conviction record.
Lansing uses 54-A District Court. East Lansing runs through 54-B. The 55th takes the rest of the district-court territory, including Mason, and felony matters can move up to 30th Circuit Court. Ingham's online court search is informational, may require a birth date for a criminal search, and works one court at a time, while the clerk holds the official file.
Each source answers a different question. A jail result shows custody now, a police report describes one agency event, and a court file tracks the procedure that follows. Keep them straight.
Searching Ingham Arrest Court Outcomes
Ingham County splits its online court records by court. You pick one court per search, and a criminal lookup may also ask for a date of birth. The system labels its results informational. The clerk keeps the official record. Criminal results go back to 2000, though restricted matters and victim details stay out of view. Start with the city tied to the case. Then choose 54-A, 54-B, or the 55th District Court. Felony matters that have advanced belong to the 30th Circuit Court. A case that fails to appear online could sit in the wrong court, arrive late, be protected, or simply mismatch your search terms. That gap should never be treated as a contradiction of an official jail result or police report.
Correcting Ingham Arrest History
Michigan's Attorney General offers a Clean Slate path. It bundles expungement help, court forms, and links to free legal aid across the state. Petition-based relief starts in the court of conviction. The applicant may need certified records, fingerprints, service on the required agencies, and the current state form. Form MC 227 lists a $50 MSP processing fee. The fee covers the process on that form. Automatic set-aside rules carry their own waiting periods, offense limits, and exclusions. This route changes an eligible official conviction record. It cannot promise that every news article, archive copy, snippet, or saved image disappears. Keep the court order and send each agency only the proof it requires.
Ingham Jail Address Changes
Ingham County's justice complex and jail moved in early 2023, with the former facility closing during a February move period. Older reports may still cite the prior location. The current corrections page lists 630 N. Cedar St. in Mason. Facility history says nothing about a photo policy.
Custody Beyond Ingham Arrests
Use MDOC OTIS only for prisoners, parolees, probationers, and recent discharges within its coverage. OTIS is not a county feed. Search by name or identification number. Results can show status, location, sentence, release data, and sometimes a photo. The federal BOP locator covers federal inmates from 1982 onward, and DHS-VINE stays separate for ICE-related custody. Neither is an Ingham photo source. A county entry, a MI-VINE alert, an OTIS profile, and a BOP result describe different systems and times. The official OTIS interface is the state route.

This state search cannot prove a recent Ingham County jail booking.
